The 4th International Symposium on Jerusalem artichoke (2014)successfully held in Nanjing Agriculture University.
The 4th International Symposium on Jerusalem artichoke, sponsored by Nanjing Agriculture University, Yancheng Teachers University and Beijing BiQingYuan Landscaping Engineering Company, was held in the international center for academic exchange in NJAU from November 6 to 9, 2014.More than 160 participantsattended the meeting, including experts,corporate representatives, and officials coming from National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China, Ministry of Science and technology of the People’s Republic of China, Science and Technology Agency of Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government. Opening ceremony was presided by XuGuohua, Dean of the College of Resources and Environmental Science of NJAU. Professor Ding Yanfeng (Vice-chancellor of NJAU), Liu Yan (Vice Chair of Science Education Department of Ministry of Agriculture), Hu Hengyang (Inspector from Rural Economy Division of National Development and Reform Commission) and Sun Chuanfan(Director of Rural Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology) delivered important speeches at the symposium.Professor Zhao Qiguo (academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), Professor StepanKiru and Doctor Natalia Anushkevich(form N.I. They also discussed lots of key technologies, including the breeding of new varieties, simplified cultivation management, bioremediation for saline soil and further bio-productions of Jerusalem artichoke, affirmed the achievements and advances on the research Jerusalem artichoke in recent years and put forward further developing direction and proposals for production of Jerusalem artichoke in uncultivated land. This symposium had a profound significance on accelerating the introduction and absorption of the domestic and international innovative research results, as well as improving the development of the bio-technology industry of Jerusalem artichoke in China.
